1 Read your approval, not your memory
- Single entry — used up when you leave. A return leg needs a fresh application.
- Double entries — exactly two crossings, then it is spent.
- Multiple entries — as many crossings as you like inside the validity window.
The entry type is printed on the approval. Check it before you book a side trip, not after.
2 The window still binds
Even a multiple-entry permit runs out. Yours carries a window printed on the approval, with a stay of up to 2 years. Every re-entry must fall inside it, and the stay limit generally applies per visit rather than in total — confirm which, for a long trip.
3 If you hold the wrong type
You cannot upgrade an issued permit. It is a fresh application: another US$90 government fee, another US$59.99 service fee, and another 3 working days.
4 Airside transit
Changing planes without clearing immigration usually does not count as leaving. Clearing passport control does.
5 Before you book a side trip
Work through the New Zealand eVisa (NZeTA) requirements checklist, then continue to the application flow. Other questions for this destination are collected in the New Zealand eVisa (NZeTA) FAQ.
United eVisa Services is a private application-support provider, not a government agency. The immigration authority makes the decision.
