1 What happens to the money
The US$90 New Zealand government fee paid for the assessment, and the assessment happened, so it is not returned. If immigration declines your application, we refund our service fee. Government fees are non-refundable. Eligibility and timelines are in our refund policy. Full terms are in the refund policy.
2 Find the cause before reapplying
Resubmitting the same file produces the same answer. Most declines trace to something mechanical:
- a mismatch between the form and the passport in the passport number, full name exactly as printed in the machine-readable line, date of birth, nationality and passport expiry date;
- a passport with too little validity remaining for the stay applied for;
- an unreadable scan or a non-compliant photo;
- a purpose of travel that does not match the product applied for — New Zealand issues Tourist, Business and Transit permits separately;
- an incomplete supporting document set.
3 Reapplying
Allow the full 3 working days again (sometimes around 1 working day where faster handling is possible — on request, never guaranteed), and a fresh US$90 to the authority. Do not book non-refundable travel against an application that has not been decided.
4 If you cannot see a cause
Where the reason is not mechanical it may relate to immigration history or eligibility, and no service can talk an authority out of that. United eVisa Services is a private application-support provider, not a government agency. The immigration authority makes the decision.
5 Before you try again
Work through the New Zealand eVisa (NZeTA) requirements checklist, then continue to the application flow. Other questions for this destination are collected in the New Zealand eVisa (NZeTA) FAQ.
