1 What is normally asked for
Most South Africa applications want your intended travel dates rather than proof of purchase. An itinerary or reservation is often enough where anything is requested at all.
2 Why not to book first
Review takes 3 working days (sometimes around 1 working day where faster handling is possible — on request, never guaranteed), and approval is never guaranteed. Non-refundable tickets bought before a decision convert a refusal into a much more expensive problem. Approval first, then book.
3 The safe sequence
- Check the South Africa eVisa requirements.
- Hold a refundable reservation, or a held fare, if you need dates for the form.
- Apply, allowing 3 working days plus margin.
- Book once the approval is in hand.
4 Dates on the form are not a contract
Your permit covers a window rather than one specific flight — the dates are printed on the approval, and it allows a stay of up to 30 days. Modest changes inside that window generally do not require anything new — travel that falls outside it does.
5 If you have already booked
Apply now and count remaining working days, including public holidays in South Africa. Do not file a second application hoping to go faster; duplicates conflict and take longer to resolve.
6 Before you apply
Work through the South Africa eVisa requirements checklist, then continue to the application flow. Other questions for this destination are collected in the South Africa eVisa FAQ.
United eVisa Services is a private application-support provider, not a government agency. The immigration authority makes the decision.
