Do I need to print my Zambia eVisa?

On this pageView sections

1 Why it is normally not required

A Zambia eVisa is linked electronically to the passport number on the application. Border systems read the passport; the paper is a convenience copy, not the permit itself. This is also why the passport number, full name exactly as printed in the machine-readable line, date of birth, nationality and passport expiry date on the approval have to match the passport exactly — if they do not, the electronic link does not resolve.

2 Why print it anyway

  • The airline, not the border, is usually the problem. Check-in staff frequently ask to see the approval before boarding, and they are working from their own rules.
  • Phones fail at exactly the wrong time. Flat battery, no signal at the arrival hall, a locked mailbox behind two-factor authentication.
  • Some officers simply prefer paper, and arguing the point at a border is a poor use of your morning.

3 What to carry

  1. The printed approval, showing the reference and validity dates.
  2. An offline copy saved to your phone as well — not only in webmail.
  3. The same passport you applied with. A renewed passport breaks the link even when the approval itself is still valid.

4 Check it the day it arrives

Compare the approval against your passport while there is still time to act. Your permit allows a stay of up to 3 months, and a mismatch found at check-in cannot be fixed in the 5 working days it would take to reapply.

5 Before you fly

Work through the Zambia eVisa requirements checklist, then continue to the application flow. Other questions for this destination are collected in the Zambia eVisa FAQ.

United eVisa Services is a private application-support provider, not a government agency. The immigration authority makes the decision.

Before you submit

A short check now can prevent avoidable corrections later.

  • Match names, passport numbers, and birth dates exactly.
  • Use clear document images and confirm the requested format.
  • Re-check travel dates and supporting bookings before payment.

Processing times are estimates and immigration authorities make the final decision. Avoid paying twice or resubmitting unchanged information.
